Face On is an ARTIUM Collection programme intended to provide insights into the museum’s holdings by displaying works for periods of approximately two weeks in the antechamber at the entrance to the exhibitions.
The title face on reflects the way we come to the wall on which the works are hung, making our first contact with art as we enter the exhibition rooms. At the same time, it suggests an attitude, an approach to things and our everyday lives, that connects the works in a direct and unprejudiced manner with our social, cultural and political context. The work will be displayed alongside a brief text that reveals these links with life out on the streets.
The works selected will be primarily those in the museum’s collection that have not appeared in a previous exhibition.
Face On also aims to serve as a link between the projects on display in the museum and to help to put them in context in our immediate surroundings, signalling possible paths amid the countless thoughts that a work of art, an object or a situation is capable of stirring.
