II ENCOUNTERS BETWEEN CONTEMPORARY ART ARCHIVE DEPARTMENTS
Virtual environments and new strategies for disseminating information
19 and 20 October 2004
The use of information technology is transforming libraries and documentation centres. This change affects the type of contents being introduced into these institutions, the demands of end users and the services created or developed in response to these demands.
Constant innovation in the information technology sector obliges us to continually re-think the structure and contents of documentation centres.
Interaction with the community makes it possible to create services that are adapted to the social context and establish a way of working based on a flexible library model that is able to adapt constantly to the new needs expressed by its end users.
The objective of these Encounters is to act as a forum for analysing the effect of the new diffusion and information strategies on the role played by documentation centres. They also aim to make use of communication technologies to promote cooperation programmes between different centres.
