About the Library

The ARTIUM Library contains a collection of documents comprising more than 86,000 references, including monographs, exhibition catalogues, periodicals, artist and organisation dossiers, posters and audiovisual material.

Besides being a key element in the documentation work of the different processes taking place in ARTIUM, the Library is also a free service available to everyone, whether they are researchers, students or art enthusiasts interested in any of the multiple facets of contemporary art, from plastic arts and the cinema to music and comics.

The ARTIUM Library is also an especially dynamic unit that, apart from regularly programming activities related to the collections it manages – video and sound art, film, contemporary music, dramatic arts, artists and contemporary art movements – promotes initiatives connecting the worlds of art and books (Literary Art, Reading Club and Bookcrossing) or delving into the secrets of the seventh art (Focusing on Cinema). It also promotes exhibitions focusing on its own collections.

The ARTIUM Library received the SEDIC National Prize for Quality and Innovation in 2006 for all its work.
