At ARTIUM we programme a wide variety of temporary exhibitions of modern and contemporary art with a number of different objectives, means and exhibition formats, in order to:
- Provide a picture of the current status of art either through individual exhibitions or groups of artists around a single theme.
- Present artists and moments of historical importance through anthologies and partial reviews or through selections of the works of different artists that illustrate an epoch, an artistic movement or an ideological situation.
- Recreate the creative context of an artist with an important presence in the ARTIUM Collection through chamber exhibitions.
- Exhibit the artworks contained in the ARTIUM Collection, grouping these to illustrate a specific theme or idea, in South Gallery (1358 m2). The exhibition is modified at approximately one-year intervals in order to show some of the different works that form part of the Collection and, on the other hand, to highlight the narrative possibilities of the art of the 20th-century.
In ARTIUM we have a special interest in young artists from Alava and the Basque Country, and also from other geographical areas.
An extremely high percentage of the exhibitions programmed by ARTIUM are produced by the Centre-Museum, on many occasions in collaboration with other entities.
